TradeStation is excited to announce new extended trading hours, starting November 11th, 2024, which will allow our clients to access stocks and ETFs starting at 6:00 AM Eastern Time. This early access can help provide you with more opportunities to analyze the market and place orders before the opening bell. Any orders with duration, including Day Plus, GTC Plus, and GTD Plus, are now eligible for execution during these extended pre-market hours. However, it’s important to note that stop and market orders are not available during this time, and GTC orders with stop or market instructions won’t be triggered until the regular market opens at 9:30 AM Eastern Time.
While this 6:00 AM start time may open new possibilities, it’s important to understand the unique dynamics of pre-market trading. You may encounter reduced liquidity and increased price volatility compared to regular market hours, potentially leading to wider bid-ask spreads. However, the growing popularity of pre-market trading has resulted in improved liquidity and tighter spreads in recent years. Our post-market trading hours remain unchanged, continuing until 8:00 PM Eastern Time. We’re confident these extended hours will give you even more opportunities to refine and execute your trading strategy. As always, we appreciate your trust in our platform and are here to support your trading journey every step of the way.
