Any new pressure in core consumer prices in the CPI would be an unknown today, but markets are certain to focus on the outcome of the U.S.-North Korean summit.

  • The Consumer Price Index showed prices moved slightly higher in results for May that were in line with expectations across all four readings: up a monthly 0.2 percent both overall and for the core with year-on-year rates up 3 tenths overall to 2.8 percent and the core up 1 tenth to 2.2 percent

The Federal Open Market Committee begins its two-day meeting today.

  • The FOMC meets eight times a year in order to determine the near-term direction of monetary policy.

A ruling is expected in the DOJ’s antitrust trial against the AT&T and Time Warner merger.
